This isn’t your typical boring lesbian/gay blog, which includes raving about lame ass gay movies and giving a personal homage to Ellen!
This blog about relationships, celebs, music, movies…It’s about things I love and people/things/attitudes that I can’t stand.
This blog about living in the Big Apple but dreaming of Hollywood.
This blog about just finding your place in the world, while enjoying the things around you.
This blog is about me, a black lesbian, and some of you may love me and others may hate me. But, at least you feel something….

Hi there. I was fortunate enough to find your blog today and am loving what I have read so far! I will be retro-reading everything, so I can be up to speed. Good perspective and insight into the the good and bad of lesbian life!

+1
I just accidently ran across your blog for the first time tonite. I live in SC and can so relate to everything! Its almost like you are me. I actully live in the Capital of SC and i feel your pains in major way. I am so ready to jump shil to LA or Sanfran. West coast lesbians rule! I need to be around hot chicks that dig hot chicks. I absolutely hate seeing a femme with a butch gal, when i see that i automatically think, ok its that femmes first girl friend. Shes actually straight so you can keep that. I am a black female that has only been with white chicks. Not quite ready for black but transitioning so my eyes have been noticing “mutts” i love them. Blondes check me out for some reason and straight chicks wont leave me alone. Society tells me that i am a very hott woman. Ive been told by dudes that im a waste, cuz i wont waste my time on them. I love hott chicks only, i refuse to settle for less, thats why im always alone. Trying to talk to someone that is less attractive, leaves it onesided, bc the look at me like a god like figure and i want a mutual attraction. I know that one day i will meet my hot rich old white woman. I have drooled over powerful status white women and have craved even im my 20′s for a sexy woman in her 50′s. Now ive moved to 60′s. Example: Arianna Huffington( so classy), Susan Sarandon(always had a sick fantasy of her) and Ellen Barkin(have mercy). I would be their hand puppet. I am so glad i accidently ran across your blog. Its like looking ay a mirror image of myself and my pathetoc dating life on the South. I am such a west coast lesbian. I just cant wait to see hott chicks together.
I was just reading http://jlrransom.wordpress.com/2011/11/05/lesbian-dating-tips-stop-dating-busted-bitches/ and I left a comment. I also read your post on “rich white women” and on all-around dating tips and had a good laugh – since it made so much sense to.
It’s so weird (in a good way) because it’s like you are me and saying exactly what I would say on the subject (if I had the guts to haha). Maybe because we’re both black and gay but probably more than that. Too much of what you say rings true; maybe because you’re the first lesbian, black or white, that I’ve heard being completely honest on these matters.
I mean my experience with black gay women has been unfortunately very limited, even though I’m an East Coast girl and I grew up in New York City. I guess 1) because they are fewer black lesbians to begin with 2) many of them fall into the categories you outlined here: http://jlrransom.wordpress.com/2011/10/15/lesbian-dating-tips-why-are-all-black-lesbians-crazy/ with them being either ghetto or “nuts-and-berries” uber liberals. I’m a moderate and most of the time I like the commentary of liberal POC (people of color) because they sometimes point out critical flaws in liberal white folks ways of thinking (here http://www.peopleofcolororganize.com/analysis/opinion/10-conversations-racism-im-sick-having-white-people/ and here http://www.peopleofcolororganize.com/analysis/opinion/white-activists/ and here http://www.peopleofcolororganize.com/activism/slutwalk-whiteness-privilege-sex-trafficking-women-color/ ) But sometimes even black liberal feminist gay women go over board and even end up discriminating against other black gay women who are less liberal or willing to always “fight the man” (For example, some black gay women’s negative reactions to other gay black women in interracial relationships http://condor.depaul.edu/mwilson/multicult/dslesb.htm )
Also this isn’t just black gay women but gay women in general. I mean every small community has its problems. Gay men for example internally have to deal with deconstructing the blond, hairless twinks that get put on a pedestal but don’t represent the majority of gay men. Like you alluded to in your “busted” post, gay women are the opposite – the trend isn’t to be fashionable or glamorous but it’s all about the buzzwords/Shibboleths, which include “sustainable,” “whole wheat,” “granola,” “vegan” “gluten free” “flannel,” “fat friendly,” “tattoos,” “piercings” and “Tegan&Sara.”
Now there’s nothing wrong with those things on their own but when the fad becomes ingrained into the community so much so that everyone that comes out must strive to fit that “Maddow” or “Ellen” mold, it’s a problem. I mean what if you’re not interested in any of those things? What if you’re “fighting the man” only extends as far as writing and other forms of “armchair activism”? What if you’re more “establishment” than you care to admit? What if (if you happen to be more butch) you’re more like a frat boy or a gay guy, wishing you had a few more things by Armani in your closet while trying to say nice and clean-cut http://www.gq.com/style/editors-picks/201009/gq-editors-picks-new-york-fashion-week-spring-2011#slide=1? I’ve never been to the West Coast, but I wish there were more “LA lesbians.”
So it’s hard finding people who think outside the box. However, you seem to do just that. Which is awesome. Please keep posting.
Ahh and finally, I absolutely love your list http://jlrransom.wordpress.com/2011/10/18/my-list-of-the-top-10-hottest-out-lesbianbi-women-in-hollywood/. You’re so right about most “conventional” hot gay women lists. This list is perfect. I didn’t even know half of these hot women were bi (Megan Fox, Drew Barrymore, Mia Kirshner, Cameron Diaz, RIHANNA)!! Also I’d never heard of Amber Heard before (pun intended) but she’s beautiful!! She wins as a high femme and as a soft butch (she likes guns and muscle trucks). She wonderful. Thanks for “introducing” me to her.
I love your blog – it’s hilarious and real.
